Abstract

This chapter has twenty puzzles. There are three types of puzzles, no shape-based puzzles (with triangles, circles, etc.), general shape-based puzzles (with a ladybug/ladybird), and Japanese shape-based puzzles (with a bamboo, a ramen, etc.). The puzzles ask the height of a shape, the distance between two shapes, the perimeter of a shape, the areas of shapes, the size of angles, and the fractions of shapes that are painted in a certain color/colour. The Japanese shape-based puzzles have a section called “Did you know?” that shows some little curiosities about that shape. Some words are different in American English and British English referring to the same thing, such as “center” (US) and “centre” (UK). In these cases, you will see written the US/UK words, for example “center/centre”.
