Abstract

This chapter has thirty-four puzzles. There are three types of puzzles: no shape-based puzzles (with triangles, circles, etc.), general shape-based puzzles (with a snail, an ice cream, etc.), and Japanese shape-based puzzles (with a bonsai, an emoji, etc.). The puzzles ask about the lengths of a side and a line segment, the areas of shapes, the fraction of a shape that is painted in a certain color(s)/colour(s), the radius of a circle and semicircle, the sizes of angles, and the height of a shape. The Japanese shape-based puzzles have a section called “Did you know?” that shows some little curiosities about that shape. Some words are different in American English and British English referring to the same thing, such as “center” (US) and “centre” (UK). In these cases, you will see written the US/UK words, for example “center/centre”.
