Uncertainty in Dynamic Measurements
Abstract
During the measurement of physical quantities, measuring instruments inherently operate under transient conditions, during which their output signal undergoes significant time-dependent variations. These effects arise from the instruments’ inertial properties, which generally comprise combinations of masses and springs, capacitances and inductances, or other inertial components. As a result, dynamic uncertainty is introduced. This chapter discusses in detail a method for evaluating the uncertainty associated with dynamic measurements and illustrates its application with examples.
