Quick Delivery Apps from the Lens of Female Consumers as a Source of Self-Empowerment
Abstract
The on-demand delivery of groceries through quick delivery apps (QDAs) has gained significant momentum in India, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. This rapid expansion of QDAs has significantly transformed consumer behavior, particularly among female users. The present study evaluated the perception of female consumers towards these apps as a source of self-empowerment in terms of self-reliance, ease of delivery, quick service and money management. The data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 400 female users of these apps from two major cities of India (Delhi and Jaipur). The study revealed a positive perception of female consumers towards these apps along with variations in demographic factors like age and occupation. The Garrett ranking technique identified factors such as timesaving, easy availability, and discounts as the highest-ranked advantages, while delivery charges and order cancellation policies emerged as significant disadvantages.
