Abstract

The non-life insurance sector relies on risk profiling and customer segmentation to understand policyholders’ needs and tailor insurance plans accordingly, which is particularly crucial in navigating changing market dynamics and regulatory requirements. Non-life insurance, also known as property and casualty insurance, encompasses various risks such as property damage, liability, and non-fatal hazards, contrasting with life insurance which primarily covers the risk of death. This paper emphasizes the critical role of Risk Profiling and Customer Segmentation in ensuring the sustainability of Non-Life Insurers. By accurately assessing risks and tailoring offerings to different segments, insurers can effectively manage uncertainties and enhance customer satisfaction. These strategies are essential for establishing appropriate pricing, mitigating risks, and maintaining longevity in a dynamic insurance market. This cross-sectional exploratory research study utilized a convenience sample technique, reaching non-life customers through online postal notifications. Data collection involved distributing Google form surveys to two hundred participants, with responses analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA to evaluate significant differences and test proposed hypotheses. Customers better understand risks associated with their lifestyle, jobs, and health, which suggests a need for specialized insurance plans that target certain issues. Insurance companies may use this information to create customized products and risk management plans that fit the specific needs of their clients, making their products more relevant and valuable. The impact of regional and demographic variables on insurance preferences is also clarified by the study.
