Abstract

This study examined the components of the technology performance chain affecting university students’ academic performance on social media (SM). The research considered prominent Nepalese universities, Tribhuvan University(TU), Purbanchal University(PU), Pokhara University(PokU), and Kathmandu University (KU) to understand knowledge from 305 students from various backgrounds majoring in management, science & technology, humanities, and social science. Measurement and structural modeling were used to transform data into comprehensive information. The study indicates that Task Technology Fit (TTF) variables namely task characteristics and technology characteristics, which are independent factors, have a considerable influence on behavioral intention to use and student academic performance under the technology performance chain (TPC). Yet, the mediating variable of behavioral intention to use had no discernible effect on the academic performance of the pupils. Hence, this study makes sense for Nepal’s top universities, as social media support for education and knowledge sharing are crucial for students to achieve academic success.
