Proteomics
Abstract
Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, which are essential biomolecules responsible for nearly every function within living organisms. As the functional entities encoded by genes, proteins play a central role in cellular processes such as enzymatic catalysis, signal transduction, structural support, and immune response. While genomics provides insights into the genetic blueprint, proteomics delves into the dynamic and complex world of proteins, offering a deeper understanding of biological systems and their functions. Unlike the genome, which remains relatively static, the proteome is highly dynamic, varying across different tissues, developmental stages, and environmental conditions. This variability makes proteomics a critical field for uncovering the functional implications of genomic data.
