Abstract

Methods used for open pit slope monitoring can vary significantly with respect to their versatility in: how the various instruments used can be deployed (on surface, in boreholes); what they are meant to measure (slope displacements, water pressures); how they measure (total vector movement, relative positions, line-of-sight); and how the data are recorded (manual, automated) and transmitted (manual downloads, wireless) and their frequency (periodic, real-time).
