Abstract

Communication of slope monitoring results is vital to the practical use of data derived from pit slope monitoring systems. Communication can take many forms, from verbal reporting on visual observations to routine reports of slope monitoring performance and to urgent advisories that call for the evacuation of specific areas in the pit. This chapter focuses on vital areas of data utilisation including: the detection of anomalous changes in monitoring data and alarming in the event of hazardous conditions; and the development of methods to communicate monitoring results to the workforce and other stakeholders, and the reporting of hazardous conditions and resulting actions.
