Durability aspects of bearing structures of spherical shell tanks for industrial gases
Abstract
The paper presents monitoring results of several shell tanks for liquid propane-butane placed on tower bearing structures that allow to take up loads in a safe way and limit element deformations. Research work, measurements and analyses have been carried out with respect to safety and durability of complex shell and bar structures. The complex state of stress in degraded elements of bearing and shell structures have been analysed. A brief foredesign and protective work guidelines have been formulated and verified. The designed solutions have been put into practice.
