Abstract

The proper assessment of the stress intensity factor K is necessary in limit internal pressure analysis of such shell structures as pressure vessels and pipelines with corrosion pits. Factor K assessments presented in literature do not allow to take into account such important parameters as dynamic internal pressure (hydraulic impacts) and external load on the ground surface in pipelines fracture analysis. K factor assessment based on the rules accepted in Eurocode 3 provides this possibility.
