A dynamic analysis of a partially concrete-filled steel column with considering delamination of the steel-concrete interface
Abstract
In this paper, following to the author’s static analysis, a result of the dynamic analysis on a steel column used as the pier of the motorway viaduct is presented. Steel box columns used as piers of the motorway viaduct are often filled with the concrete to protect from the collision of cars. In the current study, a dynamic analysis is made on a steel box column with taking the delamination of the interface of the steel plate and the filled-in concrete into account, by using the computer program package LUSAS. The iterative loading for the alternative directions at the top of each column is considered. The results indicate that the maximum horizontal displacement of the column is larger by about 7% due to delamination, and that the delamination also increases the stress of the steel plate.
