Abstract

Free nonlinear oscillations of the cylindrical shell, which are described by Donnell-Mushtari-Vlasov equations, are studied. The shell oscillations are represented by the sum of two conjugate modes and an axisymmetric mode. Amplitudes of the axisymmetric mode are assumed to be significantly smaller than the conjugate modes amplitudes. Nonlinear normal vibration mode, which is determined by imperfections, is analyzed in detail. Multiple scales method is used to study bifurcations of this mode. Nonlinear normal vibration modes of cylindrical shell in a supersonic flow are considered.
