Correctness of four-node plate bending element with bi-linear shape functions in static, dynamic and stability analysis
Abstract
Qualitative evaluation of well known 4-node rectangular moderately thick plate bending element with linear shape functions is presented for static, dynamic and stability analysis. Full, reduced and selective integration is considered. The evaluation is based on the energy-difference method in which the densities of strain, kinetic and “geometric” energies in the FEM formulation are compared with exact differential expressions.
