Abstract

Land use affects the atmospheric moisture conditions, not only locally but also at continental scales. Hydrologists and water managers are becoming more aware of the need to understand the atmospheric part of the regional water cycle. There is considerable experience present among scientists and water managers: some anecdotal, some empirical, some as a result of modeling. There is, however, neither a consensus nor a füll picture on the relative importance of the land surface-climate moisture feedback at different temporal and spatial scales.
