Abstract

This study attempts to develop diagnostic method that is capable of quantitative evaluation on detecting interfacial separation or defects inside the concrete. In this study, Chaos theory is applied to analyze sound signals from concrete structures. Lyapunov exponents analysis based on Chaos theory is applied, detecting a possibility of existence of interfacial separations, and also measuring the volumes from variations of Lyapunov exponents values. Finally, the efficiency and applicability of proposed method is discussed in compared with FFT through the several examinations.
