Behaviour of steel MRFs subjected to near-fault ground motions
Abstract
Near-fault ground motions are characterized, in case of inter-plate earthquakes, by pulse actions with large periods and velocities, and moderate ones in case of intra-plate earthquakes. These aspects impose structural demands, very different compared with the ones resulting from code provisions. The paper presents a computer program for determining the moment resisting frames (MRFs) response in conditions of dynamic soil-structure interaction and near-fault ground motions. The application refers to the seismic response of a six levels and two bays steel MRF under intra-plate and inter-plate near-fault earthquakes.
