Structural behaviors of steel beam to column connections stiffened with external diaphragms welded by the electro gas arc welding method
Abstract
The authors developed steel beam to column connections stiffened with external diaphragms, welded by the electro gas arc welding (EGW) method. In order to evaluate the structural behaviors, the authors carried out mono-axis tensile tests and Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis on the specimens modeling the connections. As the results of the tests and the analysis, the structural safety of the connections by the EGW method is verified, and the strength of the connections can be evaluated by the equation in Recommendations for Design and Fabrication of Tubular Structures in Steel.
