Collapse mode of the beam-to-column connections
Abstract
There are two types of collapse mode, local buckling and fracture, on the beam-to-column connections. Fracture phenomenons are observed in recent huge earthquake disaster; and preventing the occurrences of this phenomenon is one of the most important themes in structure design. In this study, experimental and numerical studies are discussed to understand the difference of collapse mode of the beam-to-column connections. As the result, to understand the collapse mode of the beam-to-column connections, the importance of the shape of the cross section and the stiffness of the rectangular column flange are suggested.
