Abstract
This chapter aims to characterize the Nyundo catchment by describing the physical environment and developing simple hydrological and hydrogeological models upon which the analyses of subsequent chapters have been based. Focus is directed at rainfall as the source of groundwater recharge and geology as the host media to recharge water.
