Abstract

In this chapter the numerical morphological model developed in Chapter 2 and validated against test cases in Chapter 3 is applied to a real-life coastal erosion problem. The objectives of this chapter are to: Develop and test methods for applying the model to modelling morphological change in a complex coastal environment over a duration of several years. To validate the hydrodynamic and wave model components against detailed process measurements made specifically for this purpose. To calibrate and validate a complex coastal morphological model. To understand the physical processes responsible for the observed coastal erosion and make predictions of future morphological change.
