Abstract

The importance of exploring hybrid modelling paradigms for flow forecasting is highlighted in Chapter 1 . This chapter deflnes the theoretical framework for hybrid modelling and modular models. The main principles of the framework are based on the classiflcation of the ways difierent modelling and knowledge paradigms are merged. The concept of modularization of models, as the most important concept for hybrid modelling, is deflned and developed for its further application in subsequent chapters.
