Abstract

The introduction of Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology is seen as a patient safety solution [1] . However, the design, implementation and use of EHR have been accompanied by challenges, including unintended consequences [2] and new errors [3] . This has led to increased attention to the human factors issues of EHR. This study examines the introduction of EHR in a complex intensive care environment and assesses the perceptions of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) providers and nurses with regard to implementation, usability and acceptance of EHR.
