Abstract

In 2009, it was estimated that more than 35 million people all over the world suffer some form of dementia. Although patients demand a lot of healthcare in the last stages of dementia, at early stages of the disease medical and non-medical therapies could slow the progression of symptoms. Studies have demonstrated that the use of brain games as non-medical therapy slow the progression of the disease at early stages. Several interaction channels such as PCs, mobile phones, touch screens and TVs are used to deliver therapeutic games to dementia patients. Games usability depends on the ergonomic of the selected interaction channel and the design concepts used in the interface design.
