Abstract

Criticality, uncertainty, speed, multitasking, round the clock activity and high emotive impact are the main characteristics in ICU work. Physicians need to interpret situations and circumstances as a team in order to control this complexity. This process (sensemaking individual, collective, shared) lets professionals understand what is happening and work in a coordinated and cooperative way to achieve clinical safety ( Albolino et al. ).
