Abstract

The Italian Observatory on Good Practices for Patient Safety was established in 2008 according to a specific mandate assigned to the National Agency for Regional Healthcare Services (Agenas) by an Agreement between the State, Regions and Autonomous Provinces. The Observatory started its activities in February 2008 with the launch of the first Call for Good Practices, addressed to all Italian healthcare organizations inviting them to coordinate the collection of measures implemented to increase patient safety. The Call for Good Practices, launched on an annual basis, is the main tool for the collection of initiatives aimed at improving patient safety.
