Healthcare and patient safety: How human factors and ergonomics must help
Abstract

Studies in the United States have shown that more than one percent of all inpatients may die and over twenty five percent may be harmed by the care they receive. Studies from many other countries also document a similarly high incidence of patients being harmed in the course of their medical care.
