Abstract

WHO&s;s World Alliance for Patient Safety initiative (started in 2004) [1] culminated in the development of the “ Guidelines for Safe Surgery ” and a “ Surgical Safety Check List ”, which underwent a thorough international trial in 2008 [2] leading to its world-wide adoption.
