Abstract

As a result of the increasing demand of technological innovations, the demand for highly skilled engineers in the field of healthcare will rise in the near future. For Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) this means that it will have to provide engineers capable of translating the practical needs of the healthcare sector into safe products specially designed for medical applications in low-tech, as well as high-tech applications. In this way, they can contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders.
