Abstract

An increasing interest in patient experience by health care organizations reflects a change of the focus towards patient-oriented health care. In maternity care mother compliance is crucial in increasing their safety pre- and post-birth. The misunderstanding of mothers’ priorities could be due to the information gap between professionals and mothers. In the maternity pathway the women&s;s participation is crucial in order to guarantee them the maximum security before giving birth, during and after birth. On the basis of these premises, in the last 5 years the Tuscany Region has carried out 2 sample surveys on women experience with maternity pathway involving respectively about 3700 and 3100 mothers. The good adhesion observed in these surveys has led to develop and to adopt an instrument of participation available for all new moms of Tuscany Region.
