Quality of shift handover and subsequent interruptions during work post relation with quality of care
Abstract
Two statistical surveys in France (NEXT for paramedical workers and SESMAT for physicians) revealed both widespread dissatisfaction about shift handover and the feeling of being frequently disturbed by interruption. Shift handovers are being reduced or eliminated in France to reduce staff costs. Is this choice effective in terms of quality of care and safety?
