Abstract

In our society, home healthcare is more and more developed. Several reasons can explain this evolution. The aging population has created new and increasing demand for another form of healthcare. Rising hospital costs have contributed to the expansion of new types of healthcare. In addition, more and more people prefer to stay in their own home, rather than to go to hospital, or to relocate to a family. Generally, people seek to have the most independence possible. Live-in home care is especially appropriate for example for someone with Alzheimer&s;s disease, for a person who has a risk to fall and cannot rise alone from the floor, or when someone does not remember to take medications. Likewise, home healthcare workers facilitate the rapid and smooth transition of patients from a hospital to a home setting. They offer patients the opportunity to receive quality medical care in the comfort of their own homes.
