Fault Control in Residue Number Systems
Abstract
In the last decade, fault-tolerant techniques in RNS have been studied extensively for the protection of arithmetic operations and data transmissions in digital filters as well in general purpose computers. If a digital filter is implemented using an RNS with appropriately selected redundancy, the resulting RNS structure can detect and correct errors in the processed data. Since carry-free operations are inherent in RNS, fault-tolerant RNS may provide capability to perform fast arithmetic in a reliable manner.
