Abstract

With each new development in software engineering, developers hope to have the solution — the silver bullet that will kill (or at least tame) the werewolf of software productivity. And indeed, methodologies and advances such as high-level languages, information engineering, rapid application development, application reengineering, and object-oriented programming have made software developers more productive. Still, advances in software productivity do not match the gains in hardware.
