Abstract

NetWare/IP allows all NetWare client to NetWare server communications to run over the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) suite, rather than Novell’s own IPX/SPX (Internetwork Protocol eXchange/Sequenced Packet exchange) protocol. The explosion of Internet and related services has made the world lean toward TCP/IP for every computer connection possible. However, the move from IPX to TCP/IP is not necessary for most NetWare customers, and it usually means more trouble, more configuration, higher RAM usage, and lower performance.
