Abstract

The structured approach to testing advocated in this chapter has been successfully applied to save organizations time and money while increasing software quality and delivery reliability. The savings are realized through the implementation of the “V-model” of testing, metrics, and automation to dramatically improve the productivity and effectiveness of the software delivery processes. This chapter discusses a framework for testing that has been successfully applied to custom development, package installation, and maintenance, in traditional development environments as well as in iterative, rapid development, and object-oriented environments.
