Abstract

In selected circumstances where geological and hydrological conditions are favorable, a “no-action remediation” may be considered the appropriate alternative to the cleanup of petroleum contaminated soils. This case study presents the rationale for leaving some petroleum contaminated soil in place and untreated, based on the understanding of site conditions and potential impacts as drawn from environmental investigations performed at the site.
