Influence of the Addition of Inorganic Fillers to Rigid Polyurethane Foam on Combustibility and Certain Physical-Mechanical Characteristics

The application of polyurethane foams with fillers, especially mineral kind, in the last few years has a great significance. The fillers are being used for economic or technical reasons when certain or specific product qualities are required. Considering that the fillers are relatively cheap components on the market, the small shares of fillers depreciate the product. The aim of this project is to examine the influence of concentration and type of mineral fillers to characteristics, and get the final products that can satisfy usable characteristics of the foam as thermoisolating material. Usable foam characteristics mostly depend on cellular structure that gives to foam certain physical-mechanical quality and chemical stability as well. The process of foam beginning is very complex and depends on several factors and processes. The most important are reactions of foam beginning, net reactions and their kinetics, and interaction between filler and foam.
