Abstract

The fundamental design concept of AC control motors is based on that of conventional rotary machines. When designing AC control motors a design engineer adds new features required for AC servo motors to this basic design. This means that a design engineer has to design a magnetic circuit (excitation circuit) for the given rated voltage, make sure that basic requirements for output, temperature rise, current etc. are satisfied and finally make sure that the motor being designed will be satisfactory as AC control motor. Although general considerations like quick response, variable controllability, cooling, mechanical strength etc. must be satisfied, cost-performance is the most important factor.
