Road Surface Correction of Tire Force and Moment Data (Abstract)
Abstract
Most tire force and moment data used for vehicle simulations is measured on laboratory test facilities. This investigation shows that the frictional properties of these laboratory machines can be quit different to the actual road surfaces on which the vehicle operates. These differences between laboratory tire measurements and tire characteristics under actual road conditions lead to poor correlations between vehicle simulation results and instrumented test data.
