Model test on sheet-pile countermeasures for clay foundation under embankment
Abstract
Sheet-pile countermeasure methods for embankment on soft ground is usually used as the end bearing type method. However, there should be different directions for use of sheet-pile in order to control the stress in ground, effectively. A new test apparatus is developed for the study of sheet-pile countermeasures for clay foundation under embankment. Using this apparatus, a series of model tests is conducted for different types of sheet-pile countermeasures, and the effectiveness of the countermeasures are discussed from the test results.
