Application of 3-D numerical flow simulation in pollution control
Abstract
Further developments of a 3-D numerical flow-simulation program are reported. Recently the program has been used to investigate the possibility of storing slightly polluted silt in deep natural or dredged pits situated in the seafloor or in the floodlands along rivers. The question which must be answered by the numerical simulation is whether or not the current, that passes over the pit filled to a certain level with the polluted silt, is able to transport the silt out of the pit.
