Elastic-plastic experimental and numerical strain analysis of Type 316 steel models of welded joint
Abstract
This paper is concerned with the aechanical behaviour of butt welded austenitic stainless steel thick plateds. Siailar plates are eaployed as the priaary containment wall of LNFBR nuclear plants or the first wall of tokaaak fusion reactors. The analysis was perforaed in elastic-plastic range, at rooa temperature. Vith two welded 50X 50 aa 2 cross section steel aodels, the strain distribution was obtained through experiaental strain survey. The strain distribution in weld zone is influenced by the different aechanical characteristics of base aaterial (BH), heat affected zone of base aaterial (HAZ) and weld aaterial CVM). A FEM nuaerical analysis was also perforaed to analyse the strain distribution. Coaparison between nuaerical and experiaental results presents soae interesting conclusions about the stress and strain state in such welded structure.
