Numerical analyses of foundations considering the horizontal strain
Abstract
The horizontal strain of earth surface caused by oil wells or coal mines results in the bearing capacity and the deformation of various foundations. A numerical model based on the finite element method is introduced. The theoretical results are compared with practical investigation and test date. A particular program using finite elements method is developed, which makes it □ossible to solve elastic — plastic spatial problems. The numerical model consists of elements* meshing, generation and various loading considerations. The settlemen values obtained were similar with the test results. This results should be takm into consideration when designing foundations on coal territories.
