Abstract

Analytical and experimental simulations of dynamic soil-structure interaction of underground protective structures are presented. The experimental studies are conducted in the lab by low-velocity impact test. The analysis was completed by a two degrees of freedom (2DOF) model and a finite element (FE) analysis. The 2DOF model simulated the dynamic behavior of the buried structures by including a non-linear stiffness representing the structures and soil interface. Finite element software package, SuperSAP was used to determine the linear solution, using axisymmetric elements. The preliminary results of the present study showed that sand under tension will separate from the plate, which creates voids between the two material, and consequently, ended in load relieve.
