Limit analysis of slopes and foundations by linear programming using rigid blocks
Abstract
A plane continuum is discretized into triangular blocks and the limit analysis is formulated as a linear programming problem using the lower bound approach. Some examples of analyzing slopes and foundations in an undrained condition are presented. The optimal load factor can be obtained with a small number of iterations and just a few elements. The programme is simple and can be run easily on a personal computer .
