Twin shear constitutive theory and its computational implementation
Abstract
A new strength theory, the twin shear stress strength theory, is extended to a twin shear elasto-plastic constitutive model to simulate the behaviour of pressure—sensitive materials in this paper. The method to treat the singular point of the model is also given for its implementation in computational procedure. An application of this model to the numerical analysis of ancient Xi’an city wall shows that the present model gives an approximation to the case of the wall, and that it could aviod the conservative results from the M—C’s.
