Elasto-plastic stability of cylindrical shells under hydrostatic pressure
Abstract
The stability of cylindrical shells, with geometric and material nonlinearities, which subjected to hydrostatic pressure, is analysed by the method of weighted residuals in this paper. The incremental governing differential equations are derived, and are solved by Galerkin - collocation method. Numerical calculations are performed for different geometric parameters and material properties. Compared with other works, the results of this paper are in good agreement with those obtained by other authors. The theory and method in this paper can also be used to analyse other problems of plates and shells.
