Abstract

Modern concrete structures contain many steel reinforcements. Therefore, concrete structures are rather complex and should be regarded as composite. Based on this observation, an efficient approach to the analysis of reinforced concrete structures is studied. It is based on the embedded representation of reinforcements, and computational efficiency is improved by the employment of lower-order elements. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated by solving numerical examples.
