Abstract

The thermal and structural responses of reinforced concrete beam under fire exposure were analytically studied by using nonlinear FEM in this paper. On the basis of calculating models of the thermal parameters, a method which combines the finite element with the finite difference is used for solving heat conduction equation and a computer program used for calculating the thermal responses was presented. In accordance with calculating models of material stress-strain curves at elevated temperature, a computer program was developed by using nonlinear FEM, which is used to calculate structural responses of beams exposed to fire.
